Sibyl Jean Allard, 96, a longtime resident of Ft. Collins, died June 21, 2016. Jean was born in the Waverly farm district of Alamosa, CO to Granville Graham Stewart and Helen (Nellie) Ross Stewart April 15, 1920. The family moved to a farm in the Boxelder district, east of Ft. Collins. Jean, her older brother, Lee (deceased) and younger sister Helen attended Boxelder school through the 8 th grade, then graduated from Ft. Collins High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from CSU. She married Amos W. Allard July 18, 1941, and after graduating from CSU in 1942, they moved to the Spicer, Coalmont District in North Park settling on the Allard Brothers Ranch. While Amos was away in the Navy during WWII, Jean returned to her parents' farm in Ft. Collins. After the war they returned to the home ranch, the Illinois River Hereford Ranch, 9 miles south of Walden on the Illinois River and eventually started the Allard Cattle Co. They later sold the ranch to Amos' brother, Martin and George and moved to Loveland, bought land and began developing the Loch-Lon subdivision. Jean worked beside Amos in the hay fields, kept the books for the ranch and later the development as well as being an amazing cook. She loved athletics, needlepoint and sewing. She was a member of the North Park Women's Club, the North Park Cowbelles, the president of the Colorado Federation of Women's Club at CSU and held state offices in the Rebekah Lodge. Her parents, a brother, Lee, and her husband, Amos, precede her in death. She will be missed by her sister, Helen Allen (Marsh) of Washington; sons Sen. Wayne Allard, DVM (Joan Malcolm) of Loveland, Kermit Allard, CPA (Judy McKinnon) of Ft. Collins, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at Grandview Cemetery on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Pathways Hospice or a charity of your choice .
