Alexander "Mickey" Mitchell, Jr., 76 of Clearfield, PA died Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Clearfield Hospital.

Born January 24, 1930 in Clearfield he was the son of Alexander and Rachel (Read) Mitchell.

He was employed by Breman Express Trucking Company for thirty-two years . He had also worked at Yeager Trucking of Clearfield and Beck Trucking of Reynoldsville. He was affiliated with the protestant faith, and was a member of the Michael Sicks Post #1785 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, John Lewis Shade Post #6 of the American Legion and member of the Honor Guard where he served as Chaplin and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540 where he was a Past Exalted Ruler. He was an U.S. Navy Veteran during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife Gertrude (Mullen) Mitchell whom he married September 23, 1951 in Clearfield, four children Robert L. Mitchell and his wife Cathy of Shirley MA, Margaret A. Yarwasky of Curwensville , Kathy M. Anderson of Hyde and Alexander "Mike" Mitchell III and his wife Judy of Clearfield, nine grandchildren Robert Mitchell, Jr., Robin Melvin, Rebecca Mitchell, Rachel Mitchell, Kimberly Puit, Melissa Eisenhauer, Randy Anderson, Jennifer Mitchell and Lisa Mitchell and thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

having been preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Guy, Reed, James and Boyd Mitchell and three sisters Elma Ogden, Dorothy Walkowski and Bethea Hersch and a son-in-law Francis J. Yarwasky.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc, Clearfield with Rev. TRodger J. Gorton officiating. Interment will be in Bloomington Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the hour of services. A memorial services conducted by the Elks will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Clearfield Honor Guard American Legion Post #6 and the VFW Post #1785.

The family suggests that contributions be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 987, Clearfield, PA 16830 or Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hopice, P.O. Box 992 Clearfield, PA 16830.
