OLIN MARSHALL

BURLINGTON - Olin Hill Marshall, 72, of 2511 McKinney St. died Wednesday at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.

A native of Catawba County, he was a retired plumber and steam fitter, Local Union 96, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Flonnie Taylor Marshall; son, Daniel Ralph Marshall of Burlington; daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Tucker of Burlington; sister, Mrs. Vera Fox of Charlotte; brother, Charles Marshall of Cocoa, Fla.; three grandchildren; one stepgrandchild.

The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary 7-9 p.m. today, other times at the residence. Christian wake service will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Daniel "Taz-man" Ralph Marshall, 61, of 1602 Maple Ave., died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at 2:43 p.m. following a three-year battle with cancer.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Olin Hill Marshall and Flonnie Taylor Marshall. He worked for Smith-Reynolds Company for 18 years as a painter and was a member of Burlington Assembly of God. He volunteered for various charities including Toys for Tots, the Marine Corps League and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was involved with numerous clubs including the American Pool Association, Road Ramblers, American Legion, and served as a sergeant for the American Tribal Police.

Survivors include his son, Daniel Marshall of Gibsonville; a niece, Von Gagas and husband Bryan of Rosholt, WI; a nephew, Paul Tucker and wife, Christy, of Graham; a sister, of Burlington; and four great-nieces and one great-nephew.
A memorial service will be conducted at the residence of the son, Daniel Marshall, 7303 Dew Sharpe Road, Gibsonville, on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Howard Thompson.

There will be a benefit held in his honor on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the East 70 Gas House, 2436 N. Church St., Burlington, NC 27217. The family would like to welcome all friends and acquaintances of Daniel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Taz Memorial Fund, 2436 N. Church St., Burlington, NC 27217.

Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
