Aunt Mayme married Dr. Brownfield (dentist) and was head of the cafeteria at JC Penney Dept Store. She was a serious business woman, and my mother, Mary Susan Pearson-Balkovec, was very close to her since mom lost both of her grandmothers at an early age. Mayme adopted an orphan here in Omaha. Her name was Marjorie, or Margaret. "Margie" Brownfield ended up marrying Dr. Robert Campbell, and they moved to Sheffield, Alabama.

Mayme and Doc Brownfield separated early on in their marriage. Doc moved to Des Moines, and Mayme ended up raising Margie alone here in Omaha. Eventually, Mayme ran a candy store near the Orpheum.
