Melva Altman Blackmon, 66, of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Carolina Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Johnston County on December 28, 1949, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Delmar and Velma Beasley Altman. Also preceding her in death are her sister, Jeanette Barnes; and niece Carolyn Temple.

Melva is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Ed Blackmon; son, Chris and wife, Wanema; granddaughter, Amber Blackmon and fiancée, DC Daughtry; sisters, Lois Lucas, Glenda Evans and friend, Troy Beasley; brothers-in-law, Harold Barnes, Ken Blackmon and wife, Patricia; nieces, Sharon Temple, Kim Wood; nephews, Junior Temple, Bryan Evans, Larry Dale Evans, and Johnathon Evans, and good friend, Evelyn Hairston.

The family will welcome friends from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Saturday, July, 16, 2016 at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm in the chapel of Sullivan’s Highland Funeral service. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Fayetteville Community Church Building Fund, 2010 Middle River Loop, Fayetteville, NC 28312.
