John N. French, 60, a resident of this community for many years, died Tuesday at his home in Sioux City after an illness of several months.
Mr. French was born March 15th, 1887 at Yelvington, Kentucky. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Argyle French.
He was married May 20, 1913 to Martha Ella Gist at Owensboro, Ky. They moved to Iowa in 1916 and settled in this vicinity. In 1921 they moved to a farm in Union township, and later moved, to one of the Phelps farms west of Kingsley where they lived for 17 years.
Survivors include the widow; two son, William and Wyndham of Kingsley; six daughters, Mrs. Emma Lee Bolton, of Sioux City; Mrs. Mary Reinholdt, of Marcus; Mrs. France Juelfs, of Pierson; Mrs. Darlene Berkenpas, of LeMars; Maxine and Marcella, at home; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon from the Kingsley Methodist church, with burial in the Kingsley cemetery under direction of Dickison's funeral home.
