Lucille Gibson Thomas, 71, Alachua, died Sunday at North Florida Regional Hospital, Gainesville, after a long illness. The Baxley, Ga., native and longtime Jacksonville resident moved to Alachua 20 years ago. Mrs. Thomas was a waitress in Jacksonville for several years. She was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist church, near LaCrosse. Survivors include her husband, Ray Thomas; two brohers, Henry R. Gibson, Jacksonville, and R. M. Gibson, Leesburg, and two sisters, Sarah Saunders, Dallas, and Clara G. Valladares, San Mateo, Calif. Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler is in charge."
