Arriving in Vietnam William was assigned to 3rd Platoon of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
While on a patrol the company encountered hostile forces, 5 kilometers north northeast of Dien Ban. William died as a result of a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen from hostile rifle fire.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his mother, NH Brown and his sister; Laurie L Brown both of 329 Northwest 77th, Seattle, WA and his father; William F Brown of 7041 Flamingman South, Sacramento, CA.
