"Bill" was born in Raleigh, North Carolina.

He was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and after graduating from high school in 1957, he joined the United States Marine Corps.

Upon his honorable discharge in 1960, Bill moved to El Paso, Texas to attend Texas Western College, where he graduated in three years with a B.A. Degree in journalism.

Bill worked for United Press International for 27 years and retired in 1990 as manager of the Fresno Bureau. He then worked as Editor of the Sanger Herald for seven years.

He enjoyed coaching his sons in youth sports. His hobbies included golf, softball, soccer, bowling and umpiring. He was a die-hard 49er and Giants fan.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

"His truest love was Helen" He is survived by Helen, his wife of 42 years; sons and daughters-in-law, Rich and Clare, Mark and Frances, and James and Kathy; and eight grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jerri Coleman, Ester and Juan Elixavide, Felipe Arroyo, Jr., and numerous family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19, 2006, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.

Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Northwest Church on Monday, November 20, 2006, at 9:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
