CLEARFIELD, Pa. - Frederick B. Kerr, one of the founders of the American Legion, died Thursday at his Clearfield home. Kerr, a retired Army brigadier general, was 86.
Kerr, an unsuccessful candidate for the U.S. Senate in 1922 and the U.S. House of Representatives in 1932, was adjutant general of Pennsylvania from 1934 to 1938.
Awarded the Silver Star for service in the Spanish-American War, Kerr also was commanding officer of the 23rd Engineers in France in World War I. He was in the Wes Point Class of 1899.
Kerr is survived by his widow, a son and two daughters.
