Earl Dingle Hudson, 85, of Delmar, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at his home in Delmar.
He was born April 8, 1929 in Frankford, a son of the late Charles L. Hudson and Sarah Edna (Dingle) Hudson.
Earl worked as a power service supervisor at DuPont in Seaford, from where he retired after 35 years of service. He also loved working on his farm as a poultry producer since 1977, a job he called his “hobby.” Earl’s passions were his church, his family and his cows. For 65 years he has been an active member of the Laurel Church of Christ, where he served as Elder and Deacon of Benevolence for many years, and had a true servant’s heart for helping the less fortunate. Serving his community was important to Earl as he was a life member of the Delmar Volunteer Fire Department, past mayor of Delmar, and in his earlier days served on the Delmar town council. He will be remembered by many for his kindness to others, his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to make those around him smile.
He was extremely proud of his family; wife of 64 years, Faye Brumbley Hudson; three children, David L. Hudson (Norma) of Delmar, Virginia “Ginger” Hudson Trader (Brandon) of Salisbury and Mark A. Hudson (Melody) of Delmar; 6 grandchildren, Troy L. Foxwell (Carolynn), David L. Hudson, II (Lauren), Daniel Hudson, Christopher Hudson (Megan), Paul Hudson and Chelsea Hudson; two great grandchildren, Annabelle and Harper; a brother, Norris “Nippy” T. Hudson (Jean) of Laurel; a sister, Hope P. Huey (Gene) of Bridgeville; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Julian E. Hudson, Manford L. Hudson, Alan M, Hudson and Darwin A. Hudson; and two sisters, Hilda Tushia and Vera S. Hearn.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Laurel Church of Christ, where a visitation for family and friends wil be held from 1:00 to 2:00. Wayne Mathis, Ian Drucker and Josh Lifford will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Delmar.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Earl’s memory to Laurel Church of Christ, c/o Benevolent Fund, 1010 S. Central Avenue, Laurel, DE 19956.
