Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Myrtle (Ott) Hirschel and Frederick H. Hirschel, Jr. He worked as an assistant manager for M. W. Wood and previously worked for Bethlehem Steel and Lehigh Valley Railroad. He was a member of St. Peter's Union Church, Macungie.
Survivors: Wife; Son, James L. Hirschel and wife Stacey of Deer Lake; Daughter, Korey wife of Michael J.H. Schaffer of New Tripoli; Granddaughter, Brittney Hirschel; Step Grandson, Eric Neiser; Brother, Richard Hirschel; Sisters, Kathy Edmonson and Rosalie Rago; Beloved Dogs, Misty and Toby.
