Left Sullivan County in 1864 and later was engaged in business at Waverly, NU and afterward at Chicago. 1870 returned to NYS and engaged in the coal trade business under the firm name of Peter DeWitt and company.
Leaves sister Mrs Walter S Brown of Averill Park and his younger brothers, William G DeWitt and Theodore DeWitt of NYC.
