Archie Aderhold, of Perryville, was killed on Saturday afternoon by Niagara Express on the Northern Central railroad, which left this city at 3 o'clock.

He was riding with his brother, Fred, and Harvey Weight when their sleigh was struck at a grade crossing a mile east of Cogan Valley.

The other occupants of the sleigh and the horses escaped injury.

Aderhold was badly mangled under the engine.

A watchman signaled for Aderhold and his companions to drive over the railroad and then the train bore down unexpectedly on them.

At the time the unfortunate man was sitting in the rear of the sleigh. In his endeavor to jump to a place of safety he leaped directly in the path of the iron monster and went under the wheels.

Mr. Aderhold was 29 years of age, single, and lived with his father, John Aderhold, who has been in bad health for the past three years.

It is said that the dead man was the main support of his family.
