Mrs. Southward passed peacefully on July 17, 2016, at the home of her daughter Marcie Espinosa, of natural causes, surrounded by loving family members.

She was born Patricia Jane Milloy on March 14, 1924, in Tacoma, Washington. There, after graduating from high school, she met the love of her life, Raymond Southward. She went to nursing school and then enlisted in the US Army, commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. She spent most of her service in San Francisco at the Presido's Letterman Hospital. There she cared for many of the sick and wounded from the Pacific Theater. In her civilian career, Pat was a highly regarded and beloved nurse at Fairfield Hospital until it closed in 1976.

After the war, Pat and Ray married and started a family, eventually having nine children. In 1957, they moved to Fairfield, CA. Patricia and her family were members of Holy Spirit Catholic parish.

Pat was known for her wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed music, reading, making new friends, and a nice glass of wine. She loved hosting the large holiday and family parties surrounded by friends and loved ones. She was a devoted wife and mother.

She is survived by her children, Bob Southward (Linda) of Fairfield,CA, Jim Southward (Margo) of Kamuela, Hawaii, Marcie Espinosa (Bill) of Carmichael, CA, Michele Southward (Woody) of Plymouth, CA, Marne McHale (Paul) of Grass Valley, CA and Mike Southward (Rosemary) of Fairfield, CA. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Milloy of Santa Rosa, CA and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, sons Bill and Jon, and daughter Maureen.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a Rosary on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Oakmont Funeral Home, 180 E. Monte Vista Ave, Vacaville, California. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday July 29, 2016, at Holy Spirit Church in Fairfield. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at the Solano Yacht Club, 703 Civic Center Blvd., Suisun City.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Holy Spirit Catholic School in Fairfield, CA.
