STERLING – Gordon Asbury, 67, of Sterling, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at Regency Care of Sterling.

He was born April 26, 1948, in Sterling, the son of William T. and Catherine (McCain) Asbury, and had attended Sterling Schools. He was employed at Metal Spinners in Rock Falls before retiring. Gordon had enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Gina (Ben) Babin of Prophetstown; his son, Gordon Asbury of Sterling; his sisters, Wanda Miller, Jean Smith and Shirley Ellis, all of Sterling, Reba Lindstrom of Morrison, and Hazel Browning of Salem, Arkansas; his brothers, William “Bill” (Judy) Asbury and Walter LeRoy (Beverly) Asbury and Ken (Rebecca) Asbury, all of Sterling, Herbert (Millie) Asbury of Dixon, Norman Asbury of Iowa, and Donald Asbury of Rockford; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Emma Viola Planthaber.

There will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.
