Fern I. Anderson, age 87, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

In Fern’s words:
Fern was born April 19, 1925 in the township of Pigeon, Trempealeau County, WI to Clarence and Mathilda (Larson) Kaas. She lived her entire life in the area. She attended the Thorson Country School and Whitehall High School, graduating in 1943. Following graduation she was employed in the secretarial field.

In 1945 she married Karl Anderson. They farmed in Daggett Coulee, township of Pigeon until 1989 when they moved to the village of Pigeon Falls. Their five children worked on the farm, learning and maintaining good work ethics.

Fern was a life-long member of the Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church, taking part in Ladies Aide and Sunday School, serving as treasurer for both organizations for a number of years.
When spare time became a part of her life, she completed several counted-cross-stitch projects and worked a variety of word puzzles. A number of books were read.

Five children and their families survive, Four great-grandchildren. Additional survivors are sisters-in-law: Florence; Lavina; Elsie and eight nieces and nephews.

Preceding her were her parents, husband, sister Mabel Isaacson, brothers Norman and Leonard Kaas, five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. Pastor Dale Moe will officiate. Burial will be in the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall and also one hour prior to the service on Monday.
