Willie Snow Ethridge was the wife of Mark Foster Ethridge, Sr. They were married at the First Baptist Church in Macon, GA on October 12, 1921. Willie passed away at the home of her son David. Private services were held in Key West, according to one news story. Also, some news stories stated that Willie was 82, while others stated that she was 85.

Willie love to write, and she loved to socialize; and Mark Ethridge played up the social part of his wife's personality. He was quoted as saying that her gravestone would read, "The Lord called and she could go." Willie was an accomplished author who wrote 15 books. Mark and Willie hosted Elaine and John Steinbeck for the 1956 Kentucky Derby. Willie appreciated the mechanics of writing. And she coupled her skill for writing readable prose with both good humor and satire. A journalist named Michael G Gartner authored a news article titled "Words, Words, Words." In that article he explained the difference between the proper use of the words lie, lay, laid, and lain. And of course he mentioned Willie. Willie once stated about her own lack of understanding the correct use of these words, "That's why people never go to bed in my books." In Louisville, the Ethridge's lived in the former home that was built by James Trigg in the mid 1880s. Willie and Mark hosted many parties there. The Ethridge's hosted Benny Goodman, after a performance with the Kentucky Orchestra, sometime in the 1940s.

Mark and Willie were two people who loved to write. They taught this skill to their children; so that they too could be literate. Thus, an important aspect of the legacy left by Mark and Willie is a literate family. Both their son, Mark F Ethridge, Jr and grandson, Mark F Ethridge III worked in the journalism profession.

Mark and Willie's daughter, Georgia, married Marcum J Schneider. Georgia passed away on October 1, 2000; and Marcum passed on April 11, 2008.
