A 26-year-old bricklayer fell into a 30 foot well and drowned in 18-inches of water yesterday as he was preparing to go to work at the pumping station under construction at 63rd and Meridian streets.

Bruce Brunson, a resident of the Hammilton County town of Fishers, was pulled from the hole shortly before noon.

Authorities said Brunson, who was scheduled to go to work laying bricks for the pumping station building at 8 a.m., arrived on the job about 7:30 a.m.

It was believed he entered the building to look around and fell into a 2 by 8 foot opening, plunging to the bottom of the 12 by 8 foot well and striking timbers on the way down.

The search for Brunson was launched when a fellow brickmason became worried because he did not come to work although he had been seen at the construction site a few minutes earlier.

Brunson was employed by the Frank W. Gray Company, a subcontractor on the project. General contractor is the Fruin-Colnon Construction Company.

Brunson, a lifelong resident of the Indianapolis area, was a member of the Castleton Methodist Church and the Bricklayers Union. He had been employed five years by the Gray firm.

Funeral services will be in the Harry W. Moore Arlington Chapel.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Patricia Sue Brunson; two children, Pamela Denise Brunson and Bradley Allen Brunson, both at home; his father, Harold D. Brunson of Indianapolis, and a sister, Mrs. Virginia L. Schafer of Chicago.
