Ira W. Rice, 78, of Frankfort, a native of Mellott, died Monday night in Clinton County Hospital. He had been in failing health for four years. He was born Feb 9, 1892 to John and Florence Hatt Rice. He married Elizabeth Leighty of Mellott in 1915. They moved from Mellott to Frankfort in 1917. Mrs. (sic) Rice was employed by the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. for 48 years. He was a member of Mellott United Church of Christ. Surviving are his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Betty Lou) Trees of Frankfort; an aunt, Mrs. Maude Hatt Wade of Mellott and two grandchildren. A brother and sister preceded him in death. Services will be (sic) conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Goodin Funeral Home at Frankfort.
