Dauswell's father William Rogers, Sr. was born in 1763 in Halifax Co. VA, and is buried in White Co. TN. (His father was Doswell born 1736 York Co. VA). William Sr.'s Will names his children by his first wife Rosannah (Heard) Rogers as follows:
1. Margaret "Peggie" married a Wilie.
2. Nancy married a Roberts.
3. Dauswell married Phoebe Smith, then Mrs. Elizasbeth (Vaughn) Holloway.
4. Elizabeth "Betty" married Stephan Thurman.
5. William, Jr. married Patience Igou (He is the one buried in Dunlap, TN)
6. Emanuel/Amanuel
7. James
8. Fountain
9. Rosannah married Ephriam Thurman
10. Mary married a Smith
11. George
12. Catherine

Below are half-brothers, sons of William, Sr. and his next wife Susannah (Walling) Heard-Rogers. Susannah was previously married to John Heard who was brother of William's first wife Rosannah (Heard) Rogers.
13. Anderson buried in Rogers Cemetery in White Co. in Hickory Valley.
14. Thomas buried unknown possibly in another county or state.
15. Elisha buried in Giles Co. TN where his sons lived. ** see Note below.
16. Isham buried in White Co. TN near Doyle.

Elisha, the son of Doswell b. 1736, is supposed to be buried in the Red Bank community of Hamilton Co. TN. There may be deed records in the Hamilton Co. courthouse which might confirm what I was personally told by Mae Rogers Morgan many years ago.

There were two Elisha Rogers. Elisha is an old Walling name and that is why Susannah Walling named her son Elisha. Elisha Walling the elder was a big land owner in Hamilton Co. TN, and his children were well known there. It is strange there is not a headstone to mark his grave, but it could have been destroyed over the years and there was also a number of major CW battles fought there.

** NOTE: Elisha may or may not be buried in Giles Co. TN. I have just discovered that he was living in Limestone Co. AL, but Joseph did NOT move there. I can find NO tombstones for him in either place. No one seems to know anything about this Elisha. I have no idea where he ended up. All I know is that it was either in TN or AL. Need to find a descendant who knows.
