Nicholas Hoffman Izard and Rebecca Whitaker,

In the book "Izards of America" 1936 by Julia Izard Hemenway,
she states: Mrs. Izard was buried on the family farm in Texas,
and he is buried in the Old Mt. Vernon Cemetery, at Forrest City, St. Francis Co. Arkansas.
(No tombstones have yet been located in this cemetery for Nicholas Hoffman Izard Jr. or
for his son Mark Whitaker Izard, who was a Grandfather of Julia Izard Hemenway).

Nicholas Hoffman Izard was born August 02, 1776 in Cape May, New Jersey,
and died August 09, 1836 in St. Francis Co., Arkansas.

He married REBECCA WHITAKER January 12, 1800 in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of
MARK WHITAKER and CATHERINE BOONE. She was born June 19, 1780 in Kentucky, and died
December 03, 1860 in Fayette County, Texas...near Schulenburg.

On the 1830 Census in St. Francis County, Arkansas: Nicholas Hoffman Izard Jr. is listed as a Head of Household, as is his sons Mark, John G., and a son in law Nathan Martin.
Paul V. Isbell a local St. Francis County Historian, believed he was an Army Veteran of the War of 1812.
