Keith Donave Babbitt

Keith D. Babbitt, 86 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Carriage Square Health Care Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born on July 26, 1929 in Pollock, Missouri to Ora Lee and Elva (Wyant) Babbitt.

Survivors include: His wife, Connie Babbitt of Chillicothe, Missouri, married December 27, 1986 in Milan; two daughters, Pamala Babbitt of St. Joseph, Missouri and Susie Frazier (Tim) of Blue Springs, Missouri; a son, Gary Babbitt (Dr. Ivan Ferguson) of Gladstone, Missouri; a step daughter, Christina Busby (Richie) of Lawson, Missouri; two step sons, Christopher Parks (Shanin) of Princeton, Missouri and Doug Parks (Gina) of Smithville, Mo; a granddaughter, Kathryn Strohmeyer; step grandchildren, Casey Johnson, T.J. Busby (Heather), Brittney King (Chris), Rachelle Parks, Ella Parks, Ava Parks, Josie Parks, and Watson Parks; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Storey of Kansas City, Mo., and a nephew, Doug Storey.

He was preceded in death by: His parents; and late wife, Kathryn Loretta (Boner) Babbitt.

Keith grew up on a farm near Pollock. He served with the United States Marines during the Korean War. He married Kathryn (Boner) Babbitt on September 1, 1956, in Gladstone, Mo, and three children were born to this marriage: Pamala, Susie, and Gary, Kathryn passed away on October of 1988. Keith worked construction in Kansas City, Mo until 1959 when he moved to Milan. He farmed until 1965 when he then went to work as a MFA tank wagon operator. He retired in December of 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan, American Legion Post #228, the Tanglefoot Squares Dance Club. He was the past president of the Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club in Unionville. Keith enjoyed woodworking, playing the mandolin and dulcimer.

Funeral services for Keith will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, July 18, 2016, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the funeral, starting at 10:00 AM.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Milan.
