COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Thomas Spotswood Glazebrook, Jr. M.D., 65, (affectionately known as "Spots") will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, with the The Very Reverend Timothy Jones officiating. Interment will be private. The visitation will be held 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the home of his sister. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Dr. Glazebrook died on Tuesday, July 27, 2016. Born in Columbia, on March 21, 1951, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Spotswood Glazebrook (Elizabeth Brooker).

Dr. Glazebrook attended Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and the Columbia city schools. He graduated from Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a Minor degree in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity (a fraternity founded by his late great-grandfather, Otis Allan Glazebook); and a Master's degree of Biochemistry from Clemson University. In addition, he received a Doctor of Medicine degree, graduating in the inaugural class of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Glazebrook completed his internship and residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. He practiced medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Glazebrook was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Forest Lake Club, and The Columbia Ball.

Dr. Glazebrook was predeceased by his wife, Cheryl Hubbard Glazebrook.

He is survived by his son, Thomas Spotswood Glazebrook III (Dee) of Houston, Texas; his daughters, Julia Glazebrook Trippe (Preston) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and Virginia Calvert Key Glazebrook of Columbia, South Carolina; a granddaughter, Collins Montague Trippe of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; his sister, Elizabeth Brooker Glazebrook of Columbia, South Carolina; and several cousins. Additionally, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. William Harmon Hubbard; four sisters-in-law, their children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers and memorials, if one wishes to honor the life of Dr. Glazebrook, his family suggests that a selfless act be done for a person in need.
