Marshall Jack Childress ran into the arms of his Precious Lord on Thursday, July 21st 2016 surrounded by his immediate family members at Holston Valley Hospital.

During his 84 years, he lived a wonderful life for his Lord and Savior and was known for leading by example. Those who knew him well know he leaves a legacy of “loving God and loving people.”

Many know Jack from his 43 years that he worked and retired as an electrician at the Mead Corporation, or the many hours he served his Lord at Bloomingdale Baptist Church. He and Mauddean have been faithful members for over 50 years where he was currently serving as Financial Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, and recently honored as Deacon Emeritus.

Jack’s greatest accomplishments besides his walk in Christian Faith was his love and pride of his family. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Arlee and Carl.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 6 pm on Sunday, July 24th at Bloomingdale Baptist Church.

A Celebration of life and homecoming for Jack will follow at 6pm in the church with Pastor Phil Whittemore, officiating. Music will be provided by the Bloomingdale Baptist Church choir.

Graveside services will be held at East Lawn Cemetery at 11am on Monday, July 25th with the Deacons of Bloomingdale Baptist Church serving as pallbearers and Jack’s Sunday School class serving as honorary pallbearers.

“His Lord said unto him, Well done, my good and faithful servant; thou has been faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your Master! Matthew 25:23
