Noah was veteran of the Confederate States of America. He enlisted from Tennessee.

He is buried in what was, in his day, the apple orchard of his home place on Lick Creek Mountain, Newton County, AR.

Noah's solitary grave is now in the Gene Rush Wildlife Management Area, Buffalo National River, in Newton County, AR.

Noah William Davenport, married Mary Elizabeth Kilburn in December, 1876 in Richland Creek, Arkansas. His place of burial is in his apple orchard. He homesteaded the place in the 1800's, and raised their children there. Beulah Cooper Mitchell and her cousin Walsie were the ones who purchased his Memorial and had it placed there. The foundation of their house is still there. Was also told that there was supposed to be a grave of an infant at same location. (?could this possibly be Susie? b 1880}

Gravesite Details

This headstone is the only one at this site, it was Wm N and Eliz Davenports' original homesite on Lick mountain. It was quite a hike and took several people and directions to find it. It is believed that one of their children is also buried there
