Norman J. Schneider, age 89, a Valders resident died peacefully on Tuesday morning, May 6, 2014 at Manitowoc Health and Rehab Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by his loving family.

Norman was born on December 28, 1924, in Kiel, son of the late Arno and Helen (Roitt) Schneider. On April 24, 1946 he married the love of his life: Bernice “Rosie” Schwab. Together they farmed in rural Valders. Besides farming, Norman also worked in a Cheese Factory, hauled milk, and drove bus. In the winter months, he enjoyed logging. Norman was known as a hard worker all of his life. In his free-time he enjoyed playing baseball (especially with his family) and woodworking. His true joy in life was his family.


He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Bernice “Rosie” Schneider, Valders; five children and their spouses: Gene & Dorene Schneider, Janice & Arthur Behnke, Carol & Ted Meyer, Paul & Cheri Schneider and Scott & Terry Schneider; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: Lawrence & Shirley Schneider; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Mary Ann & Tony Lipski, Betty & Donald Wallander and Dorothy Kutz; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Mark Pupeter, Arlene Schneider, Arline & James Deehr and Dave Ryan. Norman is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Norman was also preceded in death by two brothers: Francis and Sylvester Schneider; one sister: Agnes Pupeter; three sisters-in-law: Katherine (John) Brannigan, Shirley (Francis) Deehr and Bernadine “Mauie” Ryan

Funeral Services for Norman will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Patrick Nelson SDS; with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
