BUHL -- Hugh R. Mortimer, 87, of Buhl, died Friday morning, April 17, at his home. Born in Stanton County, Neb., June 25, 1899, he farmed in Nebraska, and was later a deputy sheriff at Omaha until his retirement. In 1972, he moved to Buhl, where he married Mildred Duling, and they had made their home in Buhl since. Mr. Mortimer was a member of the Congregational Church in North Fork, Neb. Surviving are: his wife of Buhl; a son, William Mortimer of Baltimore; a daughter, Virginia Tipton of Eagle River, Onario, Canada; two stepsons, Lawrence Paxton of Buhl and George Paxton of Blackfoot; a stepdaughter, Marjorie Skinner of Buhl; a stepsister, Winefred Dewey of Seal Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at p.m. in the Hopkins-Buhl Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Albert Schudde officiating. Burial will be in West End Cemetery at Buhl. Friends may sign the guest book at the chapel Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Buhl Quick Response Unit or to St. John's Lutheran Church in Buhl.
