THE P. H. GARRIGUES HONORED AT FAMILY DINNER

Widely Known Couple Were Married in Carthage-Three of Four Children Home


Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Garrigues of the Oak street road observed their 45th wedding anniversary Thursday night with a family dinner at their home. Three of their four children were here for the observance. One son, Howard Garrigues of Oak Park, IL., was unable to come due to illness in his family, however, he and his son Roger, will arrive tonight for a few days visit.
Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Allen Sherrel and children, Jimmie, Johnny and Virginia, of Jasper; Mr. and Mrs. Don Garrigues and daughter, Ann, of Carthage, and the Rev. and Mrs. Paul Worley and son, Paul David, of Texarkana, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hoskins and daughters, Janet and Rose, of Baxter Springs; Mr. and MRs. Floyd Hindman and daughter, Linda, of Joplin, and Fred Rightsell of Carthage. Mrs. Sherrel, Mrs. Worley and Don Garrigues are the daughters and son of Mr. and Mrs. Garrigues. Mrs. Hoskins and Mrs. Hindman are nieces of Mrs. Garrigues and Mr. and Mr. Rightsell is her brother.
The Rev. Mr. Worley left yesterday to return to Texarkana. Mrs. Worley will be here about a week.
Mrs. Garrigues, the former Ethel Rightsell, is a native of Carthage, while her husband was born in Ohio and came here about 50 years ago. They were married June 14, 1906 in Carthage and have lived here since.

END COMES TO WELL-KNOWN CITIZEN, 72, TODAY

Retired as Machinist for Williams Products July 1-Wife and Four Children Survive


P.H. Garrigues, 72, retired machinist at the H. E. Williams Products plant and a resident here almost half a century, passed away at 8:45 o'clock this morning in McCune-Brooks Hospital.
Mr. Garrigues had been in failing health some time. His condition became more alarming yesterday and about 1 o'clock he was moved in a Knell ambulance from his home, 1527 Oak Street, to the hospital.
He was a native of Massillon, Ohio. Born April 13, 1880 Mr. Garrigues was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Garrigues. When a young man, he went to Oswego, KS., and was graduated from high school there. He came to Carthage in 1904 and for many years was employed at the old Carthage foundry. In August 1937, Mr. Garrigues started work for H. E. Williams Products and continued on there until last July 1 when he retired.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ethel Rightsell, to whom he was married June 14, 1906 in Carthage; two sons, Howard L. Garrigues of Oak Park, IL., and Donald C. Garrigues of route 4; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Worley of Little Rock and Mrs. Katherine Sherrel of Jasper route 1; a brother, W. C. Garrigues of Los Angeles and a sister, Mrs. Florence Menke of Berea, Ohio and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the knell service home. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
