BRILL JEROME VAUGHAN:

Brill Jerome Vaughan, 91, of Boise City, Oklahoma died Wednesday November 22, 2006.

Brill Jerome Vaughan, the son of the late William Vaughan and Lula F. (Duncan) Vaughan, was born on May 1, 1915. Brill entered into eternal rest on November 22, 2006, in Boise City, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years. He had three brothers, who preceded him in death; William, Simmie, and Ralph. Two sisters who survive him, Zelma McClanahan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Nora McGavock of Happy, Texas.

Brill was born close to San Antonio, Texas when the Indians still came by the farm for something to eat, and visit. Conditions were unfavorable to farming, so they sold out and moved to a farm located near Happy, Texas, where many of his family still live.

Brill went to a one room school until the 6th grade. He then informed his dad that you didn't need an education to farm and that was what he was going to do.

Working for his Dad and doing odd jobs got him through the depression. He met the love of his life,Iva Lee Tarver in 1936, the were married Feburary 21, 1937. This union was blessed with tree daughters, Oleta Jewel McKay of Panhandle, Texas, Karen Jane Smith of Boise City, Oklahoma and Brilla Lee Todd of Freedom, Oklahoma. Iva Lee preceded him in death on January 23, 1997.

Brill leased land from different farmers until 1947. After a hail storm destroyed his wheat crop, he looked for another way to support his family. They heard about a laundry that was for sale. They bought the Westside Laundry, in Boise City. They learned the laundry buisness from the bottom up and operated it until 1980. Being the only laundry in Cimarron County it didn't take long to become friends and neighbors with everone.

Brill was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for fifty years. Brill enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and camping every chance he could get. He enjoyed going to the senior citizens every time the door was open to see if he could get a pinochle or dominos game going. He was president for many years and helped make many inprovements. He has continued to support his church and the center. Brill is also survived by twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and nunerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 10:00an at the Boise City Church of Christ with Don Lawrence, officiating.
