Thursday, November 20, 1980 The Gadsden Times, front page and obituary page 27: EDGAR LEE BELLENGER, 79, Argyle Circle, died last night at a local hospital after an extended illness. Funeral Friday at St. James Catholic Church and burial in Forrest Cemetery. A leader in local business community for many years, Mr. Bellenger was founder and president of Bellenger Oil Company. He was a graduate of University of Alabama School of Commerce and University of Alabama Law School. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Hill Bellenger and five daughters, Mrs. Gerald McDonald, Mrs. James Christopher, Jr., Mrs. George Cooper, Mrs. Bellenger Martin (*), and Mrs. Richard Harper.

(*) this must be Elizabeth "Bessie", but no first name listed on his obituary.

(The obituary in 2016 for his daughter, Mary Bellenger McDonald, showed surviving sisters: Beulah Cooper, Elizabeth "Bessie" Simmons, and Nancy Mulvaney.)

The Bellenger family lived in Gadsden. Children listed on this census were Harry P., Joseph, Maud, W.C., Sarah H., George C. and Edgar - ages 24 to 7. The son, Joseph Nelson Bellenger, apparently changed his name to Joseph Albert Page according to research including marriage records, etc. Maude Bellenger married Joseph C. Wheeler. Sara married John A. Lusk, Jr. Harry P. married Annie Farley. W.C., Jr. married Carolyn Gunn. Edgar married Beulah Hill. George C. married Corrie Sitz.
