MINERVA, Ohio-A memorial service, celebrating the life of Paul Adam Crist, age 89 of Minerva, Ohio, formerly of Newark, Ohio, will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery with military honors observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, Ohio, on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the memorial service, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Paul was born on May 31, 1927 in Thornville, Ohio to the late Stanley F. and Ruth (Cooperrider) Crist. He passed away on July 30, 2016 at St. Luke's Lutheran Community in Minerva, Ohio.

Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. Prior to retirement, he was a long distance truck driver. He was a member of the Minerva First Christian Church and was head of the Teamsters Union for a number of years. He enjoyed woodworking, home construction and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his five children, Paula Jean (James) Hanna of Minerva, Priscilla Ann Ray of Minerva, Bruce Vincent "Vince" Crist of Massachusetts, Jeffrey Alan (Nang) Crist of Louisiana and Michael Darin (Eileen) Crist of Utah; sister, Judy Hardin of Newark; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Jane (Williams) Crist on July 13, 2006, whom he married Dec. 7, 1946; sisters, Kate Hartsough and Evelyn Adams; brothers, John Crist, Kenneth Crist and Carl Richard Crist.
