Alan A. Anderson, age 65, of Belchertown, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at home with his loving family beside him. He was born in Midwest City, OK, son of the late Art and Marjorie (Masters) Anderson. He graduated from Portland High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Portland University in Oregon. Alan was in the United States Air Force, retiring as a master sergeant from active duty in 2002 after twenty-four years of service; then he worked at Westover Air Force Reserve Base as a federal employee for 14 years and retired on May 31, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Linda Jane (Popkowski) Anderson; and two children, Jeremy Anderson and Tiffany Anderson, both of Belchertown. He also leaves two brothers, Jay Anderson of Portland, OR and Miles Anderson and his wife Terri of Palatka, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Alan was predeceased by a brother Keort Anderson of Portland, OR. The Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke followed by a Mass at 9:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street in Agawam. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Alan to Holyoke VNA and Hospice, 575 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
