His obituary in the Baltimore Sunpapers of September 13, 1952 states that he was born in Montenero Domini, a small town in the Abruzzi Mountains south of Rome. During WWII the town was left in rubble.
He came to the U.S. in 1888 at age 20 and married in 1893.
