Edward J. Fennell, 87 of Monroe Township died Friday June 10th at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Edison, NJ.

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, Mr. Fennell lived in Howard Beach, Long Island, NY, Venice, Florida, and then Little Egg Harbor, NJ before moving to the Clearbrook community in Monroe Township in 2000.

He was employed for 28 years by the Sanitation Department of New York City, retiring in 1978 as the district snow superintendent for the County of Queens.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of private first class. Mr. Fennell was Past Commander and Americanism Chairman of the VFW Post, Howard Beach, NY and the civic leader in Howard Beach.

He was predeceased by his son Robert. Surviving are his wife of 30 years Carolyn Martin Fennell, his son Edward F. Fennell of Ozone Park, NY his grandchildren Robert Michael and Jennifer Fennell, Vincent & Olivia Augello and his great granddaughter Marley Fennell.

Services will begin at 8:45 a.m. Friday June 17th at the Lester Memorial Home followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Township.
A private entombment will be at the NJ Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.

Donations in the name of Mr. Fennell may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Foundation at www.stjude.org.
