Ms. Welty received a bachelor's degree in public school music from the University of Cincinnati, a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in music in piano from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She studied with Karin Dayas, who urged her to prepare for a concert career, but Ms. Welty chose to share her love for music through teaching.
She taught in schools in Ohio, New York and Illinois before devoting herself to teaching piano in Fairhaven. In her teaching and in her life, her dedication to high standards, her enthusiasm for life and her kind and caring nature made a difference in the lives she touched.
Ms. Welty was a devoted student of the Bible. Her leisure time was spent on Bible study, music and gardening. Helping others was a way of life for her.
