Beloved Kitty of Gary and Martha Boughton.

She was the best cat anyone could have. She came to us as an adult in May 2008, at first we didn't feed her thinking she was someone else's cat, but after a few days and she wouldn't leave we fed her. After a few more days I convinced my wife to let her into the house as she was climbing on the door to get in. We let her in she roamed around a bit the purr-fect guest and then let her out. Well, it was my wife's birthday so we took the day for a drive and dinner, all we could talk about was the cat. We had decided to keep her but when we got home she was gone. It was then we knew how much we missed her. We spent the next week looking for her, but couldn't find her anywhere. We couldn't post a photo, we didn't have one and she wasn't even our cat. We accepted she had left and was gone. After almost a month she arrived back at our door trying to get in, at that point we knew she was our cat forever.

May of this year, 2016, she was diagnosed with upper respiratory. After several weeks of three different kinds of antibiotics, she was still not better. Another visit to the vet because she was not eating, I was shown how to feed her. We brought her back to the vet for her check up on Friday, she had eaten fairly well, we were optimistic. We thought everything was ok. It was then the vet noticed her eye was bulging and then preceded to tell us that she probably has a tumor behind her eye and her eye will pop out. We were shocked, scared and devastated. It was Friday after 5:00 PM we were left the weekend with only time to dwell on her sickness, and contemplate her death, what to do. It was one of the saddest times of our life. Luckily, we were able to get an appointment on Tuesday with a specialist. He diagnosed her with an inoperable tumor behind her eye. He told us her eye would probably not pop out but that she probably only had two weeks to live. She stopped eating a day or so after her visit with the vet. After much web surfing, we were led to believe if she didn't eat she would die in three days. Every day, several times a day, I would try to see if she would eat. She would gently push my hand away, she would not eat. She went down hill for a week. It was hard to watch. She was blind in one eye and dragged her rear legs but always happy to hear your voice with a wag of her tail. It got to the point where she slept for a full day and a half. We thought the end was near. All of a sudden she awoke from her sleep jumped off the couch and progressed steadily every day to the point where she was jumping onto my desk to sit on my lap like old times, all without eating. Was she cured and didn't need to eat, a bionic kitty? This went on for almost a month. About two days before she died she started sleeping more. We wish we had kept track of things. If we knew she would do this well we would have to keep a record. She died on my lap sometime between 1:00 and 4:00 AM on August 3, 2016. We buried her behind our house at 5:51 AM sunrise in a small casket I made. We will always love and miss her.

After her death, there was a great void. We had spent so much time taking care of her and spending time with her we were lost, we didn't know what to do with our time. We though we would never have another cat. It was just to much pain to go through the loss. We went through the feeling of not doing enough to knowing we gave her a great home. We then decided to adopt a kitty so we could give a least one kitty a good home. I prayed that somehow Kitty Kat would send us a special kitty, but how? We have an animal shelter in our town. We decided we were going to visit just to pet some of the cats there and to do what we could to help out. I would always whisper in Kitty Kat's ear. So on our visit, we saw a tuxedo cat, just like Kitty Kat. Her name was Whisper. We adopted Whisper, now "Whispurr Rose" and she is doing very nicely. She is not Kitty Kat, but she is a very loving cat that we intend to give a great home.

I hope this will encourage anyone that has ever lost a dear pet no matter how great the loss, to consider adopting another pet and give it a loving home. You may be their last chance.
