Patten, Pauline Clark passed away November 20, 2012. She was 96 years old. Pauline was born in Oskaloosa, IA, on August 1, 1916. She grew up on a farm in Iowa, the third of seven children. After graduating from high school, she earned an RN degree in 1936 at Burlington Protestant Hospital School for Nurses in Burlington, IA. Upon graduation she practiced nursing at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. There she met and married Keith Haines Patten. The Pattens lived in Iowa City, IA, Rock Island, IL, and Des Moines, IA. Keith worked at Iowa Power and Light. Pauline continued her nursing career and became head nurse at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines. The Pattens retired to Ft. Pierce, FL in 1980, and later moved to Covenant Village in Plantation, FL. Keith Patten died in 1998. Pauline is survived by two sons, John Patten of Minneapolis, MN, and Dr. Michael Patten of Plantation, FL; her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren called her BonBon and loved her dearly. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Des Moines, IA. She lived a good life and was a wonderful example to her family.
