Walter C. Hoffman, 79, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2015, after a brave struggle with cancer. He was the son of the late Walter and Anna Hoffman of Pomeroy, PA, and loving husband of Patricia J. Hoffman, who passed away on March 18th of this year. Walt (also known as "Dick") was retired, having owned and operated a tavern successfully for 23 years, Hoffman's Haven, located in Landenberg, PA, along with his wife, Pat. He was previously employed by ID Griffith of Wilmington as a HVAC service technician. Walt was a veteran, having served in the US Army from 1962 to 1964, stationed in Germany near the Russia border. Walt enjoyed fishing, going to Delaware Park, and talking with his many friends and buddies. During his lifetime, he and his wife raised and trained many dogs and at his death owned six wonderful Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs who have been adopted into loving homes.

Walt is survived by his sisters-in-law Maryann DeAbreu of Downingtown, PA and Natalie Domsohn and spouse Paul of Coatesville, PA. He was the beloved uncle of five nieces and nephews; Michael DeAbreu, Christine Heidelbaugh, David Domsohn, Mary Beth DeAbreu, and Matthew Domsohn, as well as thirteen great nieces and nephews.

At his request, no services will be held at this time, but a private memorial service for both he and his wife is being planned for a later date. Those wishing to honor his memory can do so by donations to American Cancer Society or to the dog rescue organization of your choice.

We will sadly miss Walter - our brother, uncle and friend.
