Patricia J. Hoffman, 75, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 18, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jean Gonsorick. "Pat" was a well-known and respected dog trainer operating her own business, Pat Hoffman's Dog Training School, serving the Greater Newark, Wilmington, and Elkton areas since 1968. She was a caring and compassionate person, helping thousands of dogs and owners, and she attained the professional title of Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Pat was a premier breeder and shower of Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs, many of whom won major prizes in nationally-ranked obedience, breed champion and coursing competitions. She was a respected member of various organizations including the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States, the Doberman Pincher Club of American, and the American Kennel Club to name a few. In her final years, Pat had six Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs of her own whom she loved dearly.

Pat was previously employed by the Philadelphia Electric Company, and also worked tirelessly to help her husband run a tavern that they owned and operated successfully for 23 years, Hoffman's Haven, located in Landenberg, PA.

She also enjoyed playing shuffleboard and spending time with her friends at the Newark Senior Center.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Walter C. Hoffman, and her sisters Maryann DeAbreu of Downingtown, PA and Natalie Domsohn and spouse Paul of Coatesville, PA. She was the beloved aunt of five nieces and nephews; Michael DeAbreu, Christine Heidelbaugh, David Domsohn, Mary Beth DeAbreu, and Matthew Domsohn, as well as thirteen great nieces and nephews.

We miss her dearly.
