Marta G. Stoffers, age 68, of Atwater, died Friday evening, August 17, from injuries received in a motor vehicle accident.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 23, at the Church of Our Lady Of Manannah in Manannah. Interment will be in St Patrick's Catholic Cemetery near Kandiyohi. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home in Atwater and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Parish Prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Marta "Marty" Greer Stoffers was born on February 9, 1944 in Marshall, MN, the daughter of Albin and Florence Olson. She grew up in the Spicer, MN area (on Green Lake), attended country school on Green Lake, and graduated from the New London-Spicer High School in 1962. She married Ervin Hoffman in 1962 (he died in 1977) and in 1984 she was united in marriage to Gregory Stoffers.
Her hobbies included flower gardening, bird watching, fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors with Greg, watching her grandchildren in their sporting events, and especially caring for and spending time with her dog Buddy. In her younger years she loved her pet horses, goats, dogs, cats and other petsa�" a love she carried with her throughout her lifetime despite the fact the her allergies made it difficult for her to be around animals.
She was 1000% devoted to her family. Her life revolved around her husband Greg (who she adored), her kids, and especially her grandkids. She traveled miles to watch them in their various activities. Marty was extremely kind and would talk with anyone, anytime, anywhere.
She is survived by her husband: Greg; children: Melissa (and Chad) Bodin, Michael Hoffman, Marc Hoffman; grandchildren: Page Hoffman, Brandi Bodin, Taylor Bodin (and fiance Dawn Gildersleeve), Jacob Hoffman, Joseph Hoffman, Jenna Hoag, and Jason Hoffman; mother-in-law: Marilyn Stoffers; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Albin and Florence; brother: Jim Olson; sister: Cal Coubal; and father-in-law: Rodney Stoffers. She entered Heaven with her daughter-in-law: Michelle; and granddaughter: Julia.
