The Honorable Lawrence H. (Larry) Osting died at his home Monday, April 11, 2005, at 1:15 p.m. after a long illness. Larry was born January 25, 1915, in Louisville, KY, the son of Leavie and Regina Simms Osting. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Mr. Osting was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Lawrence J. (Nick) Osting, his daughter, Gale Osting Hammersley, three sisters, Thelma Riedling, Elizabeth Freeman and Arnetta Prior, two brothers, Raymond Osting and J. Edward Osting.

During Mr. Osting's life he was a State Representative of the 36th District in Jefferson County, KY, Mayor of Princeton, President of the Princeton Chamber of Commerce, a Director of Pennyroyal Industries, Chairman of Fund Raising for Kosair Crippled Children's Hospital, a Member of the Elks Lodge, he was named Elk of the Year in 1968, Member of the PACS Board, President of the KY Gasoline Dealers Association, and president of the All Wool & Yard wide Democratic Club. He was also President of Larry Osting & Sons LP Gas Co. and had a 45-year association with Gulf Oil as a distributor and service station owner.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 15, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Princeton.
