The Brewster standard- Aug. 29, 1963: James Robert Tompkins, 80, of Hardscrabble Road, Croton Falls, N.Y., died Aug. 22, 1963 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Croton Falls, Sept. 16, 1882, son of the late James Peter and Harriett Genung Tompkins. He attended schools in Croton Falls and was an honorary member of the Croton Falls Fire Dept. He was a painter and carpenter by trade and was last employed by Michael Furio. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Besides his wife, Mrs. Uretta Terry Tompkins, he leaves a brother, Thaddeus Crane Tompkins of Brewster. Funeral services were held at Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster. Burial was in Ivandell Cemetery, Somers, N.Y.
