Nancy Ann Pittenger was the youngest child born to Abraham Pittenger and Jane Winget Pittenger. She was one of eight children. Nancy and David Mohler were united in marriage November 28, 1861 in Delaware County, Indiana (Book 4, Page 155)
In the 1880 census records, Nancy appears twice. She appears with her family in Coles County, Illinois as N. A. Mohler. She also appears in Union County, Illinois as an inmate in the Southern Illinois Hospital for the Insane. This record states that: she is from Charleston, afflicted with the disease "Melanchol", aged 38 years at the time the disease attacked her, and that she was a resident at the Hospital for the past seven months.
In the 1900 census Nancy is listed with her family in Jefferson township, Pulaski County, Indiana.
**"Mrs. David L. Mohler, died at the home of her daughter in Jefferson township, Thursday morning of last week. The cause of her demise was cancer of the stomach from which she has been ill for the past two years. Mr. Mohler was born near Piqua, Ohio in 1841 and at the time of death was 68 years of age. In 1861 she was married to David Mohler in Delaware county, this state. To this union five children were born, including the father they all survive. The are Mrs. W. F. Scott of Jefferson township, Mrs. Maggie Winkleback of Bicknell, Indiana, Mrs. Anna Walters of Loxy, Ill., Mrs. Amy Walters, Charleston, Ill., and John Mohler of Oklahoma. The funeral was held from the family residence Sunday. Rev. S. F. Fields officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery east of Francesville."
