Frank J. Solkowski, age 93, a Manitowoc resident, died Thursday, August 4, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side.

He was born on November 3, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late John and Anna (Cieciel) Solkowski. Frank served in the Marines during World War II. On August 22, 1953 he married the former Dolores Turczynski at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2013. Frank was employed with Hamilton Industries in Two Rivers, retiring at the age of 62. He was a member of the Eagles Club, Polish League of American Veterans and the St. Mary's Athletic Club here in Manitowoc. Frank and Dolores spent many years camping and passed on their love of nature to their children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his four children: David (Barbara Hanson) Solkowski, Wauwautosa, Nancy & Steven Krueger, Appleton, Mary Ann & Alan Winiecki, Pulaski, Jim & Wanda Solkowski, Manitowoc; one daughter-in-law: Jane Solkowski, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Rachael & Alison Winiecki, Zak & Kevin Solkowski, Claire, Lauren & Abby Solkowski; one great grandchild: Owen McLean; four sisters and one brother-in-law: Helen, Sophie, Rose (Raymond), Mary and one brother and sister-in-law: Stanley (Ann). Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by a son: John Solkowski; two infant siblings: Josephine & Adam; two brothers: John and Chester; one sister: Bernice and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 S. 21st Street) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier. Burial of Frank's cremated remains will occur at St. Mary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (1114 S. 21st Street) Manitowoc, from 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 until 11:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Frank's name.
