Bernard Hinderaker, age 83, of Nevada, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.


Born December 8, 1932, In Radcliffe, Iowa, Bernard Dean Hinderaker was the son of Irwin Gaylord and Sylvia Agnes (Bergeson) Hinderaker. He grew up and received his education in Radcliffe.

On July 6, 1957, Bernard was united in marriage to Rosemary Frances Campbell in Webster City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Nevada, and was blessed with five children: Ronald, Nancy, Laura, Debra, and Janet. Bernard worked as a well driller for Layne Western Well Drilling in Ames from 1960 until retiring in 1994. He was a hard worker who enjoyed the company and various activities of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In their retirement years, Bernard and Rosemary made many happy memories traveling together.

Survivors include his wife of over 59 years, Rosemary; four daughters, Nancy Ann Sheridan, Laura Joan (Ray) Richardson, Debra Kay (Scott) Jennings, and Janet Sue Schneider, all of Nevada; five grandchildren, Richard and Jon George, Calvin and Luke Schneider, and Amber Jennings; and four great-grandchildren, Damion, Trevor, Kadin, and Baylee. He is also survived by a sister, Madelyn Miller of Nevada; and a sister-in-law, Mary Hinderaker of Iowa Falls; as well as other extended family members and friends.

Bernard was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Hinderaker, in 1997, his parents; three brothers, Lowell, Verdis, and Vernon Hinderaker; a sister in infancy, Ethel Hinderaker; and many other extended family members and friends.
