Ron Zimmerman, age 74, a resident of Manitowoc, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Ron was born on October 2, 1941 in Wisconsin Rapids to the late Lawrence and Gwendolyn Wipperman Zimmerman. He graduated from Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids with the class of 1959. Ron then went on to complete his education by obtaining his Bachelors Degree in English and Communication from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. On November 4, 1978, Ron married Sally Sedall in Manitowoc. Ron was known as the "Voice of the Lakeshore" for WOMT radio for 40 years until his retirement in 2012. He also briefly worked for WLUK TV 11 as a television host. Ron was an avid reader and always had a thirst for knowledge. He also enjoyed tending to the tomatoes and peppers in his garden. Ron was passionate about his cooking and fed his family and friends "tomato based everything" for years! He was also a friend of Bill W.

Survivors include Ron's wife of 37 years: Sally; two children: Kristofer (Clare) Zimmerman, Fredericksburg, VA; and Stacey Groll, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Kayleigh and Callum Zimmerman, and Bryanna Groll; Bryanna's dad and close family friend: Erik Groll, Manitowoc; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Don and Bette Sedall, Wisconsin Rapids; three brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Richard (Rhonda) Sedall, Wisconsin Rapids; Brian Sedall, Wisconsin Rapids; and Bruce Sedall, Chalfont, PA; two step-sisters: Kathy (Vic) Kopacz, Wisconsin Rapids; and Sharon Behrendt, Madison; also other relatives and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother: Margaret Zimmerman; an infant brother: Gregory John; and his son: Erik Zimmerman.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Ron's family will share a brief tribute to him at 7 p.m. to conclude the visitation. Cremation has taken the place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of his cremated remains to be at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
