Billy Roy Burns passed away July 4, 2016 at his residence in Longmont. He was 93 years old.
Billy was born September 11, 1922 in Pomona, Kansas to Schley and Louisa (Fetty) Burns.
He is survived by Blanche Burns his wife of 73 years; and two sons Billy of Gresham, OR and Brad of Longmont, CO; 5 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a WWII veteran and a true patriot. He assisted in the discharging of the first atom bomb. Billy retired from Rocky Flats, and became quite the craftsman in his shop at home. He enjoyed making beautiful benches, restoring antiques and building elaborate homes for many feathered friends.
He loved and cared for his family and friends; and enjoyed many weekends at Terry Lake. He will be missed by everyone he met.
A private family inurnment will be held. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers please donate to Suncrest Hospice.
