FREDERICK G. YOUNG

Frederick George Young, Age 85 years, died peacefully September 17, 2009,
following a brief illness.
Preceded in death by his wife and soulmate of 62 years, June (nee Henley) in
2007.
Survived by three children: Michael, Robert and Penny; six grandchildren:
Angus, Adam, Monique, Sarah, Christa, Tegan and Morgan; three great-grand-
children and his loving partner and companion of six years, Maria Olson.
Born July 29, 1924 in Manchester England, he enlisted for 14 years in the
Royal Navy at age 16. In 1956 he immigrated to Canada with his family,
obtained his professional license as a mechanical engineer and spent his
career in a variety of positions within the power industry. His life took
him through three countries and multiple states culminating with retirement
on his long cherished property in Two Creeks, Wisconsin.
An avid sailor, bicyclist and skier he embraced life with zest. Whether
ballroom dancing with his wife, communicating through ham radios across the
globe or exploring the modern world of computers, he embraced all pursuits
with passionate enthusiasm. Relentless in his pursuit of life-long learning,
he took up kayaking in his late seventies and obtained his motorcycle license
at the age of 82. He lived by the premises that there was nothing you could
not learn from a book and nothing broken that could not be fixed. He was the
true Renaissance Man. When Alzheimer's stole his life mate away, he discovered
the second love of his life, Maria. He was wondrous of his good fortune and
cherished her wit, her warmth and her passionate embrace of life. His family
will be eternally grateful for her loving care in his final days. He will be
sorely missed but the legends of his life and his undaunting spirit will live
on in his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and generations to come.
Thanks are not enough for the loving and compassionate manner in which his care
providers from Vitas Hospice pursued their mission. Memorials in his name may
be made to Vitas Hospice Care, the Wisconsin Humane Society, the Alzheimer's
Association or the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Family and friends are invited to join in a Memorial Celebration of his Life
at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2009, at Northshore Funeral Home, 3601 N.
Oakland Ave., Shorewood WI.
