Family and friends honored four long-time members of St. John's Anglican Church recently. The church was filled to capacity for the eucharist celebration and dinner when Mabel Stares, Phyllis Brideaux and Fred and Edna Boileau were honored for their combined 177 years of attendance in the church. Mrs. Stares has been the longest membership with 75 years. She has been active in the women's organization, has served on the Advisory Board and has convened hundreds of teas and suppers. The church's evelope secretary, Mrs. Brideaux, has been a member since 1956 when she married Edmund Brideaux. She has also been active in the women's group. Mr. and Mrs. Boileau joined the congregation of St. John's in 1938. Mr. Boileau was a warden and served on the Advisory Board as well as being jack-of-all trades maintaining the church. Mrs. Boileau has served as church treasurer and is a member of the choir.

Boileau, Fred - Peacefully surrounded by his family at the General Hospital on Friday, March 24, 2000 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of 62 years to Edna. Dear father of Patricia Mae Sleeman (Ray), John W. Boileau (Janice), Barbara Sherwood (late Bruce) all of Sault Ste. Marie, and Paul Boileau (Lynn) of Fox Creek Alberta. Loving grandfather of 26 and great grandfather of 26. Preceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Brother-in-law of Doreen Holmberg (Clarence). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Arthur Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28, 2000 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral service from St. John the Evangelist Church (136 John St.) on Wednesday, March 29, 2000 at 11 a.m. Rev. Wayne Putman officating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions to St. John the Evangelist Church or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
